Why I Massage

I believe in the overwhelming healing power of positive touch. There is much research to support the physiological effects of touch. However, in today’s society we are increasingly devoid of physical human contact. We have hundreds of “friends†that we never see, much less hug. Our extended families are typically scattered to the wind. Even our nuclear families can be somewhat estranged due to demanding and varying schedules.

Some people refer to massage therapy as alternative medicine. I argue that it should be considered primary medicine. It should be consistently prescribed by primary care physicians for insomnia, depression, anxiety, stress, high blood pressure, and an entire host of maladies that afflict modern society.

I have been a North Carolina Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist since September of 2013. I am not involved in massage therapy because I have to be, but because I want to be. I feel that this is my way of contributing positively to the human condition.

I grew up in Sevierville, TN, detoured through Ft. Worth, TX for ten years, and wound up in Morganton, NC in 1996. I love it here and will never move again of my own will.
